The Dangers of Vaping and JUULing

Vaping. JUULing. E-cigarette. JUUL pods. E-juice. JUULs.

These are things that have become very popular with middle and high school students. These are words that every parent should be familiar with.

Vaping means using electronic cigarette, also known as e-cigarette or other vaping devices to produce small puffs of smoke.

E-cigarettes use batteries to bring nicotine via a liquid (e-juice), which then becomes a type of vapor. Why do preteens and teens like these devices? Something that draws their attention is the variety of flavors they can choose from. E-juice for instance comes in bubble gum, candy crash, lava flow, coffee, mint, and many more flavors. The worst part is that many kids using these devices believe that only flavoring and water is used in the mixture. They are not aware that the nicotine inside these devices might be even more than what they would find inside a typical cigarette. A typical JUUL pod contains as much nicotine as a pack of cigarettes.

The most popular brand of e-cigarettes is JUUL, which many preteens and teens are using these days. It’s tiny, compact, and discreet with its USB design. JUULing is the term used for someone using the JUUL e-cigarette.

Vaping devices are not always easy to spot, they can be a watch like device, a pen, a USB, or any other item that you teen typically has in their room. They are being made so that they blend in with regular teen items.

Below is a video by Dr. Khan about the negative effects of vaping:

Message by Granny Dr. Khan

"Just DON'T DO IT!

Stay away from the negativity which can be:

- Toxic environmental factors

- Poisons that harm our body and subsequently our surroundings via our negative interactions under the influence of any influence of any haram: non-halal product. Our bodies suffer and that suffering envelopes our loved ones and the society as a whole suffers."

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Cleanliness is half of faith and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allah) fills the scale, and Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) and al-Hamdu Liliah (Praise be to Allah) fill up what is between the heavens and the earth, and prayer is a light, and charity is proof (of one's faith) and endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur'an is a proof on your behalf or against you. All men go out early in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves. Sahih Muslim.
